Nigel fell asleep in the car while out with Mom and Grammy today. He slept for a long time, and finally woke up at home. He has never really woken up well from naps, and this was no exception, though it wasn't as bad as some. After about 10 minutes, though, the switch flipped and he was suddenly as happy as a clam! Leaving him to himself seems to help, at least when Dad is around.
After his nap, Nigel had a ton of energy and could barely stop moving, even during story time. Nigel often has a lot of energy, but stories are one of the few things that can pretty consistently settle him. He kept wanting to tell his own stories tonight, so here are some excerpts, taken down as quickly as Dad could type.
Oozhan has earphones that he wants to stop talking, and he thinks there is a problem with the earphones. He calls eagles to come and help, and then they disappear. Then they dive down in the water, then they ride in a motorboat, then they fly up into the air, then they eat crabs, then they eat sea anemones, then they eat a whole house!
A turtle lives inside a mountain. We're going to meet him on the camp-out. He's going to be next to our tent the whole time! He only comes out at night, so we'll never see him. He only comes out when I can't see. He's invited to the camp-out. I make a noise like this (noise), and then he comes out.
I have planned to go hiking to a waterfall called Mathmick Falls. Mathmick Falls hike and the waterfall called Mathmick Falls are only open at night, and guess who's coming with us? My polar bear friend. Isn't that amazing? Guess what? This waterfall is in the Arctic. And guess what? My polar bear friend lives in the Arctic. The waterfall is on the highest mountain in the Arctic. Know what it is called? The Grand Mountain. The Grand Canyon is where this waterfall is. Guess what? My friend is good at swimming.
