2013-06-27: Mom's Baking Classes

Mom has been taking a few long-sought after baking classes, at Orson Gygi. She has just finished her second cake decorating class, focusing on buttercream icing and chocolate flowers. Her yellow roses are gorgeous, and have earned a place on the mantel in the living room, where they go quite well with the other decorations. That Mom made them herself is usually left unsaid, and likely no one would ever guess.

Nigel had asked her to make this cake pink, for him, and when he awoke and saw it on the counter, his reaction went like this: "Where's the pink? It's sort of pink. It has my name on it!" Mom had written his name in very fancy cursive on top, but Nigel was still able to recognize it. He did ask how she made it look so fancy, though, quite impressed.
