The family has been watching the Tour de France this year, in keeping with tradition, often during breakfast. Nigel has been more interested, too, and remembered a bit about it from last year. He recalled the polka dot jersey, but thought it had its own team (which he declared his favorite).
After the first week or so, he has caught on to the different jerseys, and the different teams, and how all of that relates together. He still likes the polka dot jersey, and his favorite teams are Team Sky (favored to win); Euskatel Euskadi, because they are Spanish and he likes their orange jerseys; and Movistar, because they also are Spanish. Learning Spanish has given Nigel a strong affinity for things related to the language or its parent country.
Great quote from Nigel about the event: "I don't think I will ride in the Tour de France. It it just too long for me. I can only ride for two-and-a-half seconds."
